Last night I listened to Gareth Malone conducting the Messiah. He inspired people who had never sung the Oratorio but what an inspiration he was!

I am a War Baby, born in September 1939.

I enjoyed singing in the choir in a small village outside Manchester. My Father and his Uncle both had singing lessons in Leeds and I started my lessons when I was 14 years of age so music was in my blood.

Every year I sang the Messiah.

I eventually went to live in Norfolk (Norwich) and joined the UEA choir, singing works I never thought I would sing mainly through Professor Peter Aston who was a true inspiration.

Last night I listened to Gareth Malone conducting the Messiah. He inspired people who had never sung the Oratorio but what an inspiration he was!

Thank you Gareth and all the small groups you have inspired. You were brilliant.

Unfortunately I am not able to sing due to Cancer but it brightened my day and brought back so many happy memories.
