Love, anchoring me to the past, present and future

Today is ten years since my dear old Dad passed away from bowel cancer. Even though he's been gone for so long, he is still omnipresent, as an anchor in my life, almost like a value that I live every day - 'what would Dad make of all this?' or 'I think Dad would like this work I am doing'. It's comforting, to have him as an anchor still.
“ When I hear this song now, it doesn’t make me sad, it makes me happy to think of Dad, and grateful to have experienced the power of having a human like him to be my anchor in life.”
'Anchor Me' was the song that I chose at my wedding, for the second song, the one where a bride dances with her old man. At that stage we had no idea what was coming, but the song was still perfect for our relationship. Throughout my life, Dad was my best friend and my anchor - always there for me through the storms and choppy seasons, always there for me in the sunny moments too.
I never felt alone, Dad always had my back. And though he's gone now, it still feels like I am never alone. He's everywhere. He's in the choices I make, the activities I love, his grandchildren who brought him so much joy and would still be making him proud.
When I hear this song now, it doesn't make me sad, it makes me happy to think of Dad, and grateful to have experienced the power of having a human like him to be my anchor in life.
