A Hug From Above

Music: The Nightingale
Artist: The Dubliners
Shared by: Diane for her Dad

As long as we can remember,

our Dad Noel would be humming a tune.

As babies he would sing to us,

and sleep would happen soon.

Music and Noel went hand in hand.

From marching band to Comhaltas. “Practice makes perfect “ I can hear him say,

on the Bodhrán beat he would focus.

Generations are gifted with his musical spirit,

encouraging talents that can never be lifted.

His music book of songs now in our sitting room

Each page filled to the brim with many many tunes.

His tapping foot we still can see, when a favourite song came on.

“Will ya turn that up or print the words” he would simply sing along.

Each week he’d sing to his heart’s content

3 lovely lassies or mollies lament.

But our favourite for sure

Is the nightingale sings

As we picture him singing

The joy it keeps bringing.

Although Pictures are moments

Of Comfort for sure

His smiles like his music

Offer a temporary cure,

To hear him sing the Dubliners

Stops you in your ground

And like a hug,

you it wraps around.

Thank you Dad 🥰💔

Diane.
